Charles, a retiree, finds a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a retirement home. Based on the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo”. Remake of El agente topo (2020). I think many works of fiction naturally aim to make you think something like “It was an honor to share the lives of these fictional characters”. This series undeniably achieves that goal well. Even those who come for the mystery, which gets less attention, should be captivated by the humanity that comes through not only in the writing but also in the performances of all the cast members. Kudos to all departments involved. While Netflix has been tough on series renewals lately, I hope they realize the potential of this series by giving them a season 2 because I hope to see more of these incredible characters’ journeys.
